✅ GET + INFINITIVE
Very common in spoken English but used very specifically like below.
a) gradual development
b) to have an opportunity/be allowed
- She is not horrible. She can be nice. You should GET TO KNOW her. (spend time to understand what kind of person she is)
- I know you don't like grechka but soon enough you'll GET TO LIKE it.
- We didn't GET TO BUY any grechka. There wasn't any left (we didn't manage to)
- When do I GET TO MEET your sister? (have the opportunity to meet/be allowed)
✅ GET + ING = "start....ing"
- It's getting late. We had better get moving! (time to go)
- Say goodbye to my sister! It's time to get going! (time to leave)
